Introduction of Airspace & Air Navigation Standards (AANS) Branch

The Airspace & Air Navigation (AANS) Branch is responsible for the safety oversight w.r.t standardsin the following areas:

  • Air Traffic Services and Management standards.
  • Aeronautical Information Services standards.
  • Meteorological Services standards at aerodromes.
  • Search & Rescue Facilities for Air Navigation.

Other Roles & Functions of Airspace & Air Navigation Standards (AANS) Branch are:

  • Develop National regulations by adopting or exceeding from ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) contained in the relevant Annexes to the Convention and file difference, if any on as required basis.
  • Develop, review and promulgate Safety Standards through Air Navigation Orders, Safety Directives and Air Safety Circulars.
  • Validate and process approvals for:
    • Instrument Flight Procedure Design Organizations
    • Flight Procedure Designers
    • Instrument Flight Procedures
    • Aeronautical Information Publications and amendments
